By Automobile:
-The Station has an all-outdoor parking lot on the roof of the bus station for transit employees and the general public. The first 15 min. are free, beyond that there is a fee per half hour, not the cheapest, nor the easiest to find, follow the signs.
-Very limited parking is available right next to the station near the taxi stands. This parking labeled "15 Minute Drop-off Only" is not strictly enforced--but don't park there forever--the evil meter people are bound to notice eventually that it's more than "15 minutes."
-A considerable portion of street parking in the vicinity is taken up by taxica stands. This is understandable as
-Parking is available on side streets near Summer and Atlantic Avenues. This is mostly metered parking which, during the work week, can be hard to find. Remember that you will need quarters for the meter (if you can find a parking space at all!). Most unmetered parking is either specifically for local businesses and is never accessible, such as right in front of big offices, or is for local residents of this section of the city, the Leather District. If your vehicle is not commercial or does not have the current Leather District sticker, it will be ticketed between 8 am and 8 pm, daily, excluding the most major holidays, as is done in all of Boston's neighborhood. On the weekends, they seem to be more lax downtown, though, as they usually stop ticketing after 5.30-6pm. From 8 pm to 8 am daily you can park anywhere, except cab stands, bus stops and local business parking spaces. A good rule of thumb for parking in approved spaces and not having to worry about feeding a meter or getting a ticket is checking the status of local meters--if two or more meters in the same cluster are off or flashing red, then you may park and not pay.

-For the most up-to-date information: Please see the websites of the prospective companies and/or call these companies. All companies listed have a least one number for general information and have their own website or have useful information on a "guide to Boston" type website or brochure. While en-route, talking to bus/trolley/subway personnel should ease any travel woes. For the adventurous ones, your fellow passenger may be of more approachable assistance. Often, passengers are more familiar with specifics than employees simply because, often, employees of large transportation companies only focus on certain specific areas, such as routes that they cover.
