The main outdoor entrance to the Red Line Subway. No, Boston was never a fan of making subway kiosks any kind of fancy, just practical. On the other hand, they can rip trees up from Fens and line trolley tracks with them. But that's another story... Notice the Big Dig crane in between the kiosk and the Station. Somewhere underneath this both the Silver Line to Dudley and the North-South Rail Link to North Station are supposedly being worked on, HEAVY emphasis on "supposedly"
Back out to the platforms to catch an inbound commuter rail train
The same inbound train, only closer; an outbound train with F40-PH providing the power for that trip
Within a minute or so later, the inbound train, pushed by a GP-38 is almost fully "back in"; the outbound train is still awaiting departure
Rising out of the background of the Big Dig mess is the Bus Terminal. Notice the bus in the rear open-air turnaround
Another shot of the bus terminal. The glass elevators aren't very stylish (where's the Art Deco, America?), but they do add character. The main entrance to the Bus Terminal is in between the fore and middle elevators; the fore elevator is the only one leading to the Station level; the other two only lead to offices and rooftop parking
With the front face of the Staion as reference, this is the left side of the Station face
This, therefore is the right face of the Station, as seen from the Plymouth Rock Building across the street
On Track 8, an commuter rail F40-PH pulls a string of single-level coaches out of the Station on Track 8
A commuter train backed waaay in sits under the Bus Terminal. I say "waaay in" because the locomotives are usually somewhere near the edge of the front of the Terminal, as evidenced by all the diesel soot on the building. The red signs on each column say "No Locomotives Under Building," but, as you can see, that rarely is followed
